Getting Old

Well, Thursday was Aaron's last day of school. He is no longer in Kindergarten. That morning as I was driving him to school he said well, it's my last day at this school. I told him it was his last day of Kindergarten, but he would be there next year for first grade. He was quite surprised that he would be at the same school next year. He kept remarking on the fact that he would be in the same school next year. I guess being in the military is affecting him too. Four schools in three years! When I picked him up I asked him if he told his teacher thank you. He forgot so he ran back to her and told her. She got teary and gave him a hug so then I got teary. I am the mom of a first grader now!!!!! I am OLD.

To reinforce the fact that I am aging, Friday we spent most of the day getting party favors and decorations for Aaron's sixth birthday party. We are having it early so he can have his school friends there, since a lot of army people move in the summer. Already two of his friends moved! We went to four different stores to get Transformers things. Yikes. As we were waiting in line at Toys R Us, Aaron saw one of those cars that move when you put money in. He asked if he could look at it. I told the kids they could sit in it if they shared, but I wasn't putting any money in. As I was waiting I noticed Aaron's nose running so I started digging in my purse for a Kleenex when I hear Aaron in his most excited, hopeful voice, "Wow, Mama are you going to put the money in!" Poor kid. I told him no I was getting a Kleenex and he was disappointed. Then Kara stood up like she was getting out so Aaron got out and said he would help her. She promptly sat in the middle and smiled. She was just trying to get him out so she could have the car all to herself. She's very sneaky already at such a young age.

Upstairs

O.k. Here are a few pictures of the upstairs. First the Master Bedroom and closet:

Here are a few of Aaron's room:

Aaron's sooo adorable. He told me he needed to be in the pictures so that everyone would know who's room it was.

Here is Kara again with pigtails. They lasted a whole five minutes, oh well! Whenever she sees pictures of herself or looks in the mirror she either says, Hi Baby or Ava. So she hasn't quite figured out that it is her reflection. I think it's cute that she thinks she is Ava.

Wednesday

This is the only way to separate the children when they are misbehaving. Just kidding. Aaron was upstairs playing and we were down here with Kara. Then Aaron came down but he can't get over the gate on the stairs without hurting someone or something so he was waiting patiently for us to get the gate. Meanwhile Kara was just watching him from the other side. It made me laugh.

Well, they fixed the drain on Monday and Tuesday they spent most of the day repairing the ceiling and the wall. The ceiling looks o.k. but the wall looks horrible. They didn't use the same color paint so it looks really awful. I need to go ask them if we are going to have to repaint before we leave or if they will do it. Hm..The funny part was that Kara was talking to the guys working the entire time she was awake. She was babbling on and on and even asked one of the guys if he wanted to brush teeth, since he was putting up the towel racks in the part where we brush teeth. Too cute. Those guys were smitten!

Aaron had a field day at school yesterday. it was a little obstacle course and he loved it. He told me all about it when I picked him up. He said it was a pirate theme so they were throwing cannonballs (playground balls) over the net at the other pirates. He had to search for gold, which was gold painted rocks and other things like that. It sounded really neat. They are really creative at that school.

Aaron made me cry yesterday. We were listening to butterfly kisses and Andy got emotional. Aaron asked him what was wrong and he said that he was thinking about when Kara gets married. Aaron said why would you be crying about that. Andy told him because he would be happy. Aaron said, "oh, but she would be leaving you so it would make you sad." Wow. What a smart boy. I know, I am his mom so I am biased but I really think he is an amazing little boy to pick up on that.

Well, so far today I have watered the grass and tried to vacuum up the leftover sheet rock. Very exciting stuff. Oh I also painted my toenails. It was very exciting. I was just glad that I didn't have to wait here for any more work orders to be done. Kara and I actually got to go for a walk for the first time in a while! Well, I will leave you with some cute pictures!

One tired Baby!

Exciting Weekend

Yes, that is water dripping from our ceiling! Well, I wasn't feeling well on Saturday, so I decided to take a bath. After my bath I came downstairs and heard a dripping sound. We came into the front room and noticed that the ceiling was dripping onto the floor. Yea. We had the guys come out and look at it and they decided after putting a hole in my closet that the contractor would have to fix it!

He was supposed to come out Sunday so we spent the whole day at home waiting for him. Andy called in the afternoon on Sunday and was told they were going to come on Monday. So today I am waiting for the contractor which I am sooo sure he'll come out today. We've only been here three weeks so we are kinda wondering what else is going to happen. So there you have it. The excitement is spilling over into Monday. Woo Hoo.

Aaron's Sea Horses!

They are learning about sea life at school and Aaron had to make a sea animal. He chose the sea horse. They use their tails to hold onto things. And (as you see in the middle sea horse) the daddy sea horse carries the eggs. I thought it was cute. I still think it's a bit crazy to have projects in Kindergarten but that's why he going to that school.

Mother's Day

Well, I had a quite nice Mothers Day. At school Aaron had made a butterfly magnet, some stationary and a chore flower pot. He said I could pick a flower and he would have to do the chore right away. I picked take out the trash. He looked at me and said, "I don't really have to do that one right?"
Andy made very tasty beignets for breakfast. We all enjoyed them. Kara just licked the sugar. We made it to church and I spent most of the mass trying to keep Kara out of the purse next to us. She was also very talkative today and the three year old in front of us shushed her. :) The church gave all the mother's a red rose, a coffee mug and some cookies. Very nice. Andy was going to grill but it was too windy so we had pizza instead which was very tasty!

Cute Pictures

Here is a picture Aaron drew for me. He made it a color by number so I had to fill in the colors. Very clever i thought.

Also, Kara climbed up into the bar stool herself and was getting sneaking chickie, chickie pieces from daddy.

New Home pictures

Yes, nothing says new home like looking at someones bathroom, but here is a pic of the downstairs bathroom.

Here is the formal dining room. Since we do not have formal dining room table we are using it as a bonus room I guess.

Here is the den where we have the computer!

Our family room:

And our messy dining room:

That's pretty much all of the downstairs except the kitchen. I will have to clean some more to get a picture of the kitchen.

Moved!

Kara was helping us pack!

Well, we are all moved and starting to settle into a routine. We are now at a very nice two story house. Kara loves the stairs and can shimmy up faster than you can imagine! Aaron also loves the stairs and is trying to see how high he can jump down from. That sounds familiar. Any way I am making progress getting the inside put away or at least finding hiding spots until i know where I want stuff. Part of the problem is that I want to clean the dirt off the garage floor and that happens to be where a lot of our stuff is stored at the moment. Quite a pickle. Oh well. I got a lot accomplished today so that's good and the downstairs is starting to look presentable.
The kids are being cute as usual. Kara has learned a new word, fork. She doesn't quite pronounce the r yet, so in addition to correcting clock, bench and ship now we have fork to worry about. Oh well, it makes outings interesting.
Aaron is getting very excited about school being over and is talking non-stop about, what else, but transformers. Somehow every conversation ends up being about transformers. He is obsessed! We are also trying to figure out where to have his birthday party because there's no playground near the new house. We are trying to think of a place where they can get their energy out but still be o.k. if it rains. It will be interesting to see what we figure out. Why worry about it now, you say. Well, a lot of his school friends are leaving this summer so they wouldn't be able to come to his party if we waited for his birthday. I never imagined all these little things that we would be stressing over when we became parents.
