Friday, the students at Aaron's school had to dress up at their favorite book character. Aaron chose Draco Malfoy the bad kid from the Harry Potter books. He has blonde hair and sneers a lot so Aaron did as well.

Kara's Thanksgiving Pagent 1
On Wednesday November 17, Kara's preschool had a Thanksgiving Pagent for the parents. They sang songs and then the families got to eat with the students. The feast included sliced turkey (sandwich meat), carrots, popcorn and sweet potato pie. It was very adorable. Here is

Kara's dance classes were doing Dance around the world. Her group had Japan, so they had little Geisha masks. Too cute. Kara was adorable, she even waved to us. It was wonderful. The other dances and children were adorable too. Enjoy!

Pinewood Derby District Races (27 Feb 2010)
At the end of February we drove out to Eufala Alabama for the district pinewood derby races.
It was extremely organized which is something we are not used to. We went to sign in and Aaron's car did not pass one of the tests. They use a different track than our group and the weights on the bottom would not clear the track. We asked if we could attach them to the top and he said sure. So Andy got out his tools and set to work removing the weights from the bottom and putting them on top of the car. Aaron was a bit upset because he didn't like the weights on top, it ruined the looks. However after Andy fixed it he was allowed to sign in. There we had to come up with a name for the car. Aaron chose fireball. Then we sat down and waited for the race to begin.
They had an MC for the races who was hilarious. He would make funny little comments to make us all laugh. Then when the race would start he would say, ready set and then hand the microphone to one of the kids in the audience to yell GO. Aaron loved it when it was his turn. Kara was too shy and turned away when he held the microphone in front of her.
After many races Aaron was first in the wolves category! Hooray. So we had to wait for the finals. While we were waiting we helped the church youth group by buying the hot dogs and candy they were selling. We got a King sized Kit Kat and Kara said, "That's the biggest Kit Kat in the world!" She ate most of it too, because I didn't get a piece at all. :(
Then came the finals. Aaron's car did o.k. but did not place. He was a bit disappointed but we were still proud of him! It was a very nice day!

Pinewood Derby Pack 50 (23 Jan 2010)
Well, in January our Den had it's annual Pinewood Derby race. Aaron and Andy worked on their car for weeks. Then the day of the race came. We signed in, weighed our car and sat back to watch the races. Every car raced in each lane! The wolves race was very exciting. Aaron and a car with legos were neck and neck in every race, with Aaron's car pulling away at the last second. After many heat the winners were announced and Aaron received 1st place against all the wolves. Woo Hoo! So that afternoon he was to race against all the first place cars in the finals.
The finals were also very exciting. Every time Aaron and this one car would race, they would alternate who got first. Aaron's won one race the other car another. In the end the other car proved to be the fastest and Aaron received second place overall. The top 3 cars in the finals got to go onto the district level. We were very excited!
