Complaining (march 10) and not complaining

O.k. I have almost got our boxes unpacked so I am starting to get down to the little things. Why can't windows all be the same size. Our last house has narrow windows vertically. The windows here are horizontal. The floor space will not fit the carpets we already own. And of course the drawers. The kitchen can never have the same size drawers in any house. I have my silverware hanging in the top of the drawer.
I bought utensil holders for the pens and things and of course they are about 1mm too long. if I turn them the other way I can only get one in.
Grrr. So I am making my own utensil holders out of cereal boxes. How unappealing. On the other hand, grandma Hartmann would be proud.

On a non-complaining note..... Aaron got into the gifted program here. Yea. Every school is different so he will have to be tested at every school we move to. How annoying for him. Or he is so smart that every state will have recognized him as gifted by the time we get out of the army. What an ego boost!!!!

In Kara news... we went to Ash Wednesday services (in the pouring rain) and after she got the ashes she broke down sobbing. I asked what was wrong and she said she didn't like them. I told her when we left the rain would wash it off, but until then she would just have to calm down because we couldn't do anything about it then. So, of course, once mass let out there was sunshine and no rain whatsoever. So she broke down again. So I wiped the rain water off of the car and washed her forehead off. She was relieved and I again asked why she was so upset. I thought she was traumatized by thinking of Jesus and the ashes and I was wondering how much therapy was going to cost, when she responded with, "The ashes don't make me look pretty."

Hm..
Then when we get home, she took out her little plastic cookie jar and wafer looking building toys and offered me one EXACTLY like the Eucharistic Ministers do and said, "In the name of the body." Then she hands it to me and says, "now you say amen." Then she goes to the imaginary people next to me and does the same thing, playing church. Very cute.

Aaron's new glasses (24Feb2011)

Aaron was very excited to get his new glasses today. He loves that he can see things now. I think he looks great with or without glasses, but I am glad he wants to wear them.
