A few pics

We were watching Sleeping Beauty (or sleeping booty as Kara says)

Kara put on sunglasses to eat breakfast one morning. It was like eating with a rock star. MORE MILK!
This is Aaron not impressed with the rock star at the table:
Here is how Andy puts Kara to sleep:

On the Air

Aaron talking on the radio:

Well, for cub scouts on Wednesday Aaron's den went to a radio station in Enterprise. So I was listening to the station and the DJ was talking with the scout master and then she let all the scouts say there name on the radio. I didn't hear Aaron say his name so I thought maybe he was too shy to talk or they didn't let everyone talk. Then the DJ started a song and interrupted with "we have a lost scout." She proceeded to say that he couldn't find a parking spot and was late. Then clarified with, "Now Don't get upset Enterprise police department. It was his dad driving trying to find a spot, not the scout." The DJ was very sweet and interrupted the song so Aaron could say his name. So she asked his name. "Aaron." And last name. Then what's your rank. There was a pause because we haven't called Tiger Cub a rank before, it threw Aaron a bit, so someone prompted him. He spoke very clearly and distinctly. It was adorable. I was very proud and thankful that the lady DJ interrupted the song so that Aaron wouldn't be left out. So thank you Weevil 101 Country in Enterprise for being so generous with your time! The scouts loved the tour.

The Scouts and the DJ Leigh:

With that tour Aaron has completed all the requirements for the Tiger Cub badge so he should be getting that at the blue & gold ball, which is the awards ceremony for the scouts, in February.

The Pinewood Derby

Aaron's Car:

On Saturday Aaron participated in his first pinewood derby. It's a big deal to the scouts and it is an interesting process. Aaron and Andy worked together to create vehicle. Kara and I bought the kit and the weights and then stayed out of the way. Aaron told Andy the design and shape he wanted and Andy drew the outline on the car. Then they chopped and sanded and refined the shape. Andy painted it red and Aaron put on the stickers. It was a very neat looking car.
They raced within their own dens (age level) and then the winners of that raced each other at the end. There was also a race that family members could enter just for fun. The track was wooden and consisted of four lanes. To make the racing fair each car raced four times, once in each lane. Every time Aaron raced he consistently made third. However, overall he didn't place. He was a bit disappointed so we tried to head that off with trying to figure out how to improve our car. Was it the paint job, the stickers, the wheels, the design, the number of weight or the placement of the weights? With prompting he came up with a lot of different variables that would maybe affect the outcome of the race, so it was a science/math lesson as well. Very neat. He did get the scoutmaster award for participation and hard work so that was good too. Andy and I also thought of a few ways that Aaron could be more involved in the creating process so that next year it will be more Aaron's work than Andys.

Finally a post from me!

Well, I have been ever so carefully taking down Christmas decorations and storing them. It is not an easy task, since Kara wants to help unpack everything I just put away, but oh well. I am almost done. The only thing left is taking down the tree. I finally got all the ornaments off the tree and found boxes for the new fragile ones. So all of that is put away. I will have to wait until Sunday to take it down though, because this weekend Aaron is racing a car. Not driving one mind you but he and Andy built a car for the boy scouts pinewood derby. They had a test run today and did o.k. It should be very exciting and I will probably type a separate blog just on that. Now, however, I will treat you to the kid-disms from the past few weeks, o.k. some are from thanksgiving.

Kara was drinking her glass of milk and looked at us, shook her head and said icccce cold.

We were getting out the extra serving of pumpkin pie to share with everyone and Aaron coughed on the whole dish. So he ended up getting the whole thing. Also, we put out the sugar bowl with breakfast and he stuck his finger right in the center. Yes, my house is germ central, we like to share.

Also, while Mike and Christi were visiting and a week after wards she was crawling around on all fours because Honey was.

The Sunday after Thanksgiving in church Kara was hilarious. I don't see how people hear a word the priest is saying when we are there, we are so distracting. Anyway, she was wearing her puddle boots which are slightly big for her. So Andy picked her up and a boot fell. She hollered, "There goes my boot!" We got that one back on and the other slipped off. Kara hollered, "The goes other boot!" Then during the homily she was folding her hands and whispering, "Pray to God. O.k. (then a pause) Pray to God. O.k." Then she mumbled something else and Aaron said, "What did she say?" and it echoed. Ughh. Then she was jumping up and down and hit her mouth on the pew and cried. We calmed her down and what did she do two seconds later, she jumped again and hit her mouth, so Andy had to take her outside to calm her down. When Andy got back he was a little tense so I whispered, "it's like Cirque de Druilhet in here." That got him to snicker. At this point, I think Andy suggested we just give Kara some cymbals and I about lost it. We get our best material for the blog at church, they are just so funny.

In December I was just starting to get the Christmas decorations and toys out. I told Aaron that he and Kara could open one of the boxes of toys when he got home from school. All morning Kara kept asking to open the box and I kept telling her when we get bubba from school. Well, then she pauses and looks at me and says, "So go get Aaron!" I again told her no, we have to wait until school is out. Then she smiles at me and says "abre". Because on Dora if you say open in Spanish (abre), the items open.

Aaron was dressing up and got out his pirate costume. Apparently a piece was missing from the set because he came running into the room and said, (in a pirate voice) "Whoever took my eye patch, prepare for the DOOM!" How can you not laugh?

Kara put one of her babies into a box and couldn't get the lid open. She was thinking aloud and said, "Get baby out of the box. I need tools. (she ran to her doctor kit) Hm...let me think. Scissors. Yes!"

Kara is also in the hitting stage which wasn't too bad with Aaron because it was just him, but with Kara she can take it out on Aaron as well. So she is getting some time outs where she has to count to twenty and then apologise. Well, after she counted to twenty we talked about why we don't hit. We asked her what she could do next time. She told us, "Count to twenty and THEN bonk his head!"

Aaron and Andy were playing Legos and Andy told him that he did a really good job building something. Aaron told him, "Daddy, I'm a pro. I'm a LEGO pro!"

Kara is getting quite possessive of everything. If Aaron uses the potty in their bathroom she tells him, "no, that's Kara's potty." Andy was getting some 1% milk for Aaron (which is the kind we use for Kara too) and she told him, "Ooops, that's my milk. Don't grab MY milk."

Aaron was feeling sick one day and Kara said, "I need my telescope." We told her no it's a stethoscope. She considered that for a minute. Then said, "Um..the scope." Then she ran to Aaron and said, "I'm a doctor." He looked at her and said, No Kara I don't feel good. She looked at us and with a smile said, "Oh, he's scared."

I made Aaron put his clothes away that I had folded and he came downstairs and said I did it i need a treat. Do I get a toy. I told him that I had folded all of it and I needed a treat. He looked at me and said, "Soda is a good treat."

Christmas eve was especially interesting at church. While the kids were singing Kara was singing AND checking out every poinsettia at the front. Then once mass started she noticed the manger and told us, "That's baby Jesus." Then she repeated it to us several times. "That's baby Jesus. That's baby Jesus." Then at the point where they normally have the collection the didn't. Apparently there isn't one on Christmas eve, but Kara kept asking loudly, "Where's the basket. Where's the BASKET."

We had lots of cookies at the holidays and Aaron touched one and said, "That cookie has my germs on it. Can I have it?

Then Kara was dragging something away that I needed so I told her Kara you're taking the box. She looked at me and said, "Yes, and it's fun!"

Later we were telling something to Kara and she misunderstood and said very surprised and confused, "Wait a minute. did you say Bonk my head???"
