Homework

Aaron was doing his homework at the table so Kara got a paper from the recycle bin and started writing too! She wants to do everything Aaron can do, it's cute!

Not too much to write about today. It rained the entire weekend so we didn't get out much. Kara is still sniffly and now I have a sore throat. Ughh.

CHEESE!

Well, we have done some shopping since I last wrote. I got the cookware set I have been eyeing, so that's exciting for me and we got a bigger stroller for Kara so we can go on these roads better in our neighborhood.
We've been watching the Olympic swimming and diving with the kids. That's been interesting. Kara will raise up her arms like they do and dive into the carpet. It must not hurt because she does it repeatedly. Aaron thought the diving was interesting and even wanted to go off the diving board at the pool here. Unfortunately they closed the pool because of weather before he went off so we will hopefully get to try again this weekend.

The kids continue to say funny things to make us laugh. Which is good because they also test us a lot.
While we were driving and listening to music Aaron told us, "Guess what dance Optimus is doing. The Robot. Get it because he is a robot." (I like it when he explains his jokes to us, it's cute)

Kara was trying to get a book from me and said, "Gimme book!" I said, "Can I have the book, please?" trying to model how I wanted her to say it but she just told me, NO!

One morning Kara had sleep in her eye and Andy has a different name for it. He said, "Kara can I get your eye boogers." She said, "Daddy boogers in nose. Boogers in nose." They must both think we are really not that bright because they love to correct us.

Also, Kara was using her hair brush on the furniture and carpet. I told her that brush is a hair brush. It's only for hair. She thought a minute and then started brushing my leg hairs. Um..I guess I should shave.

I have to brag on Aaron for a bit. He brought home a book/card from school. On the front it said, "I like. I love. By Aaron D." On the inside he put, "I like transformers. I love Kara." I thought that was so sweet. Also, his teacher talked with me after school and told me Aaron was a good reader. I know he is but I was surprised because he is usually shy at school, so that was neat.

Pictures and such

Kung Fu Kimmie!

We haven't really done much this week. Just get Aaron ready for school and pick up Aaron. So I will treat you to some kiddisms from our San Antonio trip in July that I haven't posted yet with some recent pictures to make it more confusing.

Kara was talking with her paci in her mouth. I told her I couldn't understand her and took it out. So then she said it again with her teeth clenched together as if it wasn't the paci that was the trouble.

One morning I asked her if she wanted milk or juice. She told me, "moosh"

I told Kara to go get a book and I would read it to her. After looking at the bookcase, full of books, she came back and told me, "couldn't find one."

While we were driving we pointed to something out the window and told the kids to look, so Kara held up her doll to the window so the doll could see too.

Aaron was helping me wake up Andy one morning and Andy asked what time it was. Aaron told him, "Elbow thirty!" and elbowed Andy in the stomach.

We were driving past a store and Aaron said, "look a dollar TR!" A what I asked him. "A Dollar TR." he said and then told me, "See, the lights are burned out."

Health Update and our weekend.

Well, I talked with my doctor on Friday and the results of the biopsy were negative for Cancer. So she is still not sure what exactly is causing my problems and the solutions she offered me are only for part of the symptoms not all. So right now we are just going to wait and see if it gets any better.

On to other stuff. We had a busy weekend. We went shopping on Saturday and we found some skillets that I had been wanting on sale so that was exciting. Andy also got some new clothes on sale as well so that's good too. I found a curtain rod for Aaron's bedroom so hopefully I will get that up this week. We shall see if I have the energy and Kara cooperates.
Sunday we went to church and Kara was loud as usual. Fortunately she is the cute loud, like saying Amen or bible loudly or singing after the song is over. Andy said we might as well just bring cymbals to church, but I don't think Kara was really THAT loud.

Kara's cute pigtails:

We also discovered that Aaron has horribly stinky feet. He apparently took them off in the car and I almost gagged. He told us, "Sometimes when I get home from school, I take off my shoes and go BLAH, cause they're stinky." So apparently it doesn't bother him any. Although he did take a big whiff of his foot right next to his nose and almost threw up. Sounds disgusting I know, but it was hilarious to watch his facial expression change from mischievous to green.

Sunday afternoon we went to the pool and that was a lot of fun. Then kids swam around and Aaron learned how to do a flip under water. However, while I was taking down the sunshade in the truck I apparently got on Andy's nerves cause he growled at me. To which Aaron commented, "Yeah, Mama annoys everyone. Even Aaron!" So I know where I stand. I think Andy bit his tongue trying not to laugh at that one.

Kara was trying to tell us something tonight and I didn't understand. I asked Andy did she say Cybil? Kara looked at me and said, "ZIP.......PER!" nodding her head on each syllable for emphasis. Hm..I guess I just didn't bring my A game with the kids on Sunday.

First Grader in the House!

Above, the kids dancing.
Well, Kara is starting potty training much to my dismay. I was hoping she would be interested in the potty after she learned to be dry at night, but oh well. She likes to sit on the potty and tinkle but still doesn't poop there. Too much information? Yesterday she told me she had to potty so we got her seated and she said, "Here it comes!" Then there was a little tinkle and she yelled, "Yea!" and clapped for herself. Then she said, "Another one." Sure enough more tinkling and she shouts, "Yea!" and clapped again. It was hilarious. She was also chasing Andy around after work and said, "Daddy, Daddy, come back here, Daddy!"

Aaron has been funny too. The other morning he woke me up at 5 or so. I looked at the clock and told him to go back to bed. He told me he just had to ask me something. O.k. So he said, "Did you check the weather last night?" I told him no, so he said o.k. and went back to bed. I asked him about it later because I wasn't sure if he was sleepwalking or not. He said he had a bad dream about tornadoes getting the house. So that explains it.
Kara's play phone has shapes on it and it says red star, blue moon. Aaron heard blue moon and said, "That makes me thirsty." I was mentally going through the lyrics and couldn't come up with anything so I asked what do you mean. "You know, like Daddy's beer in the fridge, Blue Moon." Hm..
Then Wednesday we went to get his haircut so he would look nice for the first day of school. The lady said that she was going to shave it all off. Aaron said no. Then she asked if I give you a whole bunch of lollipops would you let me shave your head. That gave him pause and he was actually thinking about so I had to jump in and say NO!
Then Thursday on Aaron's first day of school he said he was nervous. I asked why, since we had met his teacher and seen his classroom the night before I thought he would be fine. He said, "I dont' want to work hard. Just how hard do I have to work in first grade?" His kindergarten teacher told him the night before that his first grade teacher was really nice but he would have to work hard, so he wasn't sure that he wanted to work hard. Then when I dropped him off at school I was going to walk him to the door, but he saw his friend and took off after him and didn't even tell me good bye. I was a little sad yesterday morning, so I called Nana from the car to lament. Well, while we were in the driveway Kara hopped down from her seat and sat in Aaron's and stretched out her arms. I guess to test it out while he was gone. She did the same thing when we got inside, she sat in his dinner chair and surveyed her domain. Poor Aaron, Kara missed him but wanted to try out all his stuff while he was gone.
Aaron's new Lego plane:

So we now have a first grader in the house. That makes us feel even older than when he was in Kindergarten.

New Toy

Crazy Driver!
What do you mean I have to take a test?

Well, we finally broke down and got Aaron his first car, which happens to be a truck. He did pretty good driving it. (Kara would put it in reverse accidentally and that caused problems). Andy even used our orange cones so he could have an obstacle course to practice driving. After an hour of lessons we cleared him to drive and he is no longer stuck at 2 mph. Today he will get to drive a whopping 5 mph! Wow!

In other news we took advantage of Alabamas tax free weekend and bought some school clothes for Aaron. We were actually trying to find clothes for Andy, but Aaron always ends up getting things. Go figure. Oh, we would've saved more had we actually known they had a tax free weekend, but since I didn't find out until Saturday I went ahead and bought all his school supplies last weekend. Hm...Oh well. On the way home from shopping it was dark, but Aaron put on his sunglasses and started dancing to the radio. He is too funny!
Aaron rocking:

Kara is getting too smart for her own good. I asked her what she wanted for breakfast and she told me brownies. I told her she couldn't have brownies for breakfast. She picked up her bear, handed him to me and said, "Bear wants brownies." Then I was tickling her and she wanted me to stop so she said, "Stop it." and then, "I serious." Hm.. As we were getting in the car someone revved their engine and Kara said, "monster scary." Too cute!

Screaming, Birthdays and Betty Crocker

We had a quiet moment the other day so Aaron and I did a couple of puzzles. Transformers of course, but hey it was something different. Aaron got a few birthday cards with money so we went out so he could spend it. The transformer he got said ages five and up. Since it was the day before his birthday he told us, "Hey, I'm almost and up!" He was excited. We also got some ice cream on the way home from our outing and Andy said there was no way he could finish his. I told him maybe he could ask Aaron to help. I had barely finished speaking when Aaron pipes up with, "Did you ask me yet?"

Kara's new thing is screaming. She screams when she is laughing, she screams when she is mad. Ughh, it is an annoying sound. After a particularly loud and long scream Andy asked if she could scream any louder and to our surprise she could and did that instant! WOW! Another time She was dragging her puppy behind her and it happened to run into the gate. She screamed and screamed. I asked her what was wrong and she told me, "Puppy not careful." And then to the puppy, "K? Are you K puppy?" She also told me the other day, "I so silly." And also, I was tickling her and she would say, "1, 2, 3, tickle." So I would tickle and she would get a very serious face on and say, "Stop it." Then "1, 2, 3, tickle." I guess she couldn't make up her mind if she wanted to be tickled or not.

Here are the presents Aaron opened on his birthday:

For those of you counting that's three birthdays so far this summer for Aaron. Thursday morning Aaron woke up and saw the big box that Michael sent him. I put it right outside his door the night before. So he ran into our room to ask if he could open it. We said sure and walked over there. So he tore it open and looked at us puzzled. "Hey, it's empty." The night before I took all the presents and hid them downstairs. So I told him he had to go look for them and he was excited. "It's like an Easter egg hunt for birthday presents," he told us. So for breakfast he got to have a brownie which is the new tradition we started last year. Then we got ready for his last day of swimming lessons. The whole lesson that day was jumping off the diving board. So that didn't go to well. He said that he remembered it was scary and didn't even go on the board. I told Aaron that he was six now so it wasn't scary. He said, "No, I think I'll try when I am seven." So next year we will try the board I guess. For Aaron's birthday lunch we got a treat. Andy came home early (for him) and ate a pizza lunch with us, so that was neat. I think he had a pretty good birthday. Kara even sang Happy Birthday Bubba!

Our kitchen however, looks like Betty Crocker exploded in it. We have cookies from Andy's birthday and brownies and cinnamon sticks from Aaron's birthday. There was a whole lot of baking going on in there this week. So everyone please stop by soon and eat some desserts with us!

On a side note Aaron was playing games with me on the computer. I had to get something for Kara and when I got back he was playing dominoes. I didn't know he could play and he said, yeah, we played all the time in kindergarten. Not on the computer but with the other kids. I love to play games so I am excited that there is another game we can play with Aaron. Another note if you would like to have a song stuck in your head for days listen to burnin' up by the Jonas Brothers. I have it on myplaylist to the left. It's actually not a bad song but the best part is the video. It cracked me up. You can watch the video on youtube.com. It was so funny. Yes, Disney has invaded our home and I'm afraid there is more to come.
