Projects and cooking

Aaron had to make a spider for a project so he chose the black widow.
I think it turned out rather nice!

Daddy and Kara were cooking one evening for dinner.

However, Kara is not always careful with the rolling pin. :)

Aaron's Lego Church

As you can see it's a combat zone church.
Notice the gun rack where you put your guns before you enter.

The guy in the back with the light saber is getting ready to go through the metal detector.
The two guys in front with gray helmets are part of the choir. One is the organist and
one is the singer. The blond guy with the book is the lector.
And of course Boba Fett is bringing in the cross. A typical morning
at the Lego Combat Catholic Church.

Bowling - 7 Oct 2011

Andy has the day off for the holiday, so this morning we went bowling with the kids. It is a very small place, but very nice. They had a Fall Break special so that was neat (I love a deal). Andy, of course got the best score, but the rest of us did pretty good too. It was a lot of fun.

Cub Scout Camping

On Friday, Daddy and I went camping. First we set up the tent. Then we had a crab hunt. We caught lots of crabs. Finally we got the astronomy belt loop. On Saturday, I did lots of exercising. First I did relay races. Next I did kickball and badminton. Then we cleaned up a beach. Last we went fishing. At fishing we baited a hook. Then on my first try I caught a fish. Then we left.

Waikiki Aquarium Part 1 (25 June 2011)

(In the above picture, Kara had the sun in her eyes)
We got to visit the Waikiki Aquarium for Military Appreciation day. It was free for military and dependant so that was great! It was very nice and of course, crowded. They had some amazing fish. The colors were so beautiful and vibrant, our pictures do not do them justice. Aaron really liked the sting ray. I liked all the fish with the neon colors. We also saw a moray, sharks, jellyfish and sea urchins. It is a small, but very nice aquarium.

These pictures do not do the fish justice. They were beautiful and fluorescent. It was very neat.

Pre Flighting the Blackhawk (9 June 2011)

We picked up Andy from work the other day and convinced him to let us play on the black hawks in the hanger. It was fun. We used to look at them all the time in Germany, but were not allowed to in Alabama. I think both kids enjoyed it.

Andy let me climb up on top! Before I climbed down I told him to take a picture because I doubt I would have the courage to climb up again! They are taller than they seem and not a lot of hand holds. It was really fun.

At the movies (5June2011)

We went to see Rio the other day. It was cute, we really enjoyed it. The kids laughed a lot, so it was fun! They don't like taking pictures though because the two I took before the show were not that great! Enjoy :D

Diamondhead Part 1 (30May2011)

Since we have been in Hawaii we have noticed that everyone has a surf board. Bikes, cars, vans, tow trucks and even the fire trucks have surf boards. This was a firetruck at Diamond head. We just had to get a picture of it.

We finally made it to Diamond head. Like everything else here there were tons of people. It was not the relaxing nature trail I was expecting. In addition to the tons of people there were not as many scenic overlooks. Not that the landscape/view wasn't pretty but there was no room to stop and enjoy the view. That being said, it was still a nice hike with lovely views. Here we are at the beginning of the trail.

Our destination/goal is the tiny box at the top of the crater:

Here is the kids and me about 1/3 of the way up. There is barely room for two way traffic so we had to wait for a break in people to take the picture.

This is us at the top. Still very crowded and we were tired.

This is on the way down we got someone to take a picture for us.

Diamond Head Part 2 (30 May 2011)

Some of the birds we saw. Hopefully I got the names correct. Red Vented Bulbul:

Red Crested Cardinal

Waxbill

Dove

Heading Home:

To get in and out of the park you actually drive or walk through the crater wall. Very cool.
