Well, Kara is starting potty training much to my dismay. I was hoping she would be interested in the potty after she learned to be dry at night, but oh well. She likes to sit on the potty and tinkle but still doesn't poop there. Too much information? Yesterday she told me she had to potty so we got her seated and she said, "Here it comes!" Then there was a little tinkle and she yelled, "Yea!" and clapped for herself. Then she said, "Another one." Sure enough more tinkling and she shouts, "Yea!" and clapped again. It was hilarious. She was also chasing Andy around after work and said, "Daddy, Daddy, come back here, Daddy!"
Aaron has been funny too. The other morning he woke me up at 5 or so. I looked at the clock and told him to go back to bed. He told me he just had to ask me something. O.k. So he said, "Did you check the weather last night?" I told him no, so he said o.k. and went back to bed. I asked him about it later because I wasn't sure if he was sleepwalking or not. He said he had a bad dream about tornadoes getting the house. So that explains it.
Kara's play phone has shapes on it and it says red star, blue moon. Aaron heard blue moon and said, "That makes me thirsty." I was mentally going through the lyrics and couldn't come up with anything so I asked what do you mean. "You know, like Daddy's beer in the fridge, Blue Moon." Hm..
Then Wednesday we went to get his haircut so he would look nice for the first day of school. The lady said that she was going to shave it all off. Aaron said no. Then she asked if I give you a whole bunch of lollipops would you let me shave your head. That gave him pause and he was actually thinking about so I had to jump in and say NO!
Then Thursday on Aaron's first day of school he said he was nervous. I asked why, since we had met his teacher and seen his classroom the night before I thought he would be fine. He said, "I dont' want to work hard. Just how hard do I have to work in first grade?" His kindergarten teacher told him the night before that his first grade teacher was really nice but he would have to work hard, so he wasn't sure that he wanted to work hard. Then when I dropped him off at school I was going to walk him to the door, but he saw his friend and took off after him and didn't even tell me good bye. I was a little sad yesterday morning, so I called Nana from the car to lament. Well, while we were in the driveway Kara hopped down from her seat and sat in Aaron's and stretched out her arms. I guess to test it out while he was gone. She did the same thing when we got inside, she sat in his dinner chair and surveyed her domain. Poor Aaron, Kara missed him but wanted to try out all his stuff while he was gone.
Aaron's new Lego plane:
So we now have a first grader in the house. That makes us feel even older than when he was in Kindergarten.

What a cool airplane. It makes me feel really old to have a grandson in the 1st grade. What a handsome first grader too. Kara, you just enjoy your freedom while you can. What a big girl to potty in the potty chair. Good girl. Now, my baby is getting potty trained. Where does the time go.
